Do you Know Pica-Pica?
When you go to the Philippines, you may encounter the term Pica-Pica. Well it's not some exotic animal or an imported Mexican cuisine. Technically, Pica-Pica means finger foods. It's the food you can buy from the streets of Philippine cities. Pica-Pica foods are mostly fried goodies. So those with high cholesterol levels should be wary of these sumptuous Philippine delights. Pica-Pica foods could be any of the following: 1. Fish balls 2. Squid balls 3. Kikiam nuggets 4. Abno (1-day old chick, dip-fried) 5. Tokneneng (quail's egg boiled first then dip-fried) 6. Balut (boiled duck's embryo, awww!) 7. Isaw (grilled chicken intestines) 8. Adidas (grilled chicken feet) 9. Dugo (grilled chicken blood, it gets gory man!) 10. Chicharon Bulaklak (literally means crunchy pork flowers, but it is the pork intestine that gets fried to perfection.) These are the most famous Pica-Pica. And they're really delicious. Perfect match for ice-cold beer. |
